Middle School Departmental Offerings

Employing an interdisciplinary approach to
middle school humanities, Parker School pairs core teachers with
grade specific English and history/social studies classes. The humanities
curriculum focuses on maximizing writing opportunities.

Six levels of math instruction are available
to middle school students. Placement is based on student proficiency
rather than grade level. Students can elect to participate on the
MathCounts interscholastic math team.

Focusing on hands-on learning, integrated science
courses are taught by grade level in the school’s fully equipped
middle school science lab.

All 6th, 7th and 8th grade students take Spanish
language classes, continuing through to 12th grade. With the opening of the lower school, Spanish language instruction begins in kindergarten. As these students progress, the level of instruction in the middle and upper schools will rise accordingly, allowing for Honors and Advanced Placement courses and the ability to explore the art history, literature, and culture of Spanish-speaking lands.

Each middle school student has the opportunity to take an elective from various subject areas each trimester per year. Course Descriptions: Middle School Fine Arts

All middle school students participate in physical
education courses. Classes focus on building individual and team
athletic skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Housed at the nearby Parker Ranch Stables,
the equestrian program introduces students to riding and proper
horse care. Each middle school grade participates in the equestrian
program one afternoon per week during one trimester per year.
