The International Day of Climate Change was marked by a blue line on October 24 by Parker School students in Kawaihae Harbor. The Blue Line Project is a collaborative effort organized by 350.org, Blue Planet Foundation and the Sierra Club of Hawaii. The project raises awareness of the impact of climate change and is highlighted by a line that marks the potential extent of flooding with a 1 meter sea level rise.
The Blue Line Project will generate a united message that will be carried to the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, this December - where the world’s top scientists, international leaders, and policy makers will shape a global treaty on greenhouse gas emissions.
Blue Planet Foundation is a local non-profit committed to ending the use of carbon based fuels on Earth by making Hawaii a global leader for energy independence within a decade. Blue Planet is building a clean energy movement in Hawaii, shaping new policy tools, and providing smart energy solutions to residents statewide.
