In preparation of the holiday season Parker School students in grades K-5 celebrated Winter World Traditions.  Each year the lower school students learn how children in 6 different countries celebrate winter.  This year our students "traveled" to Spain, Italy, Russia, Poland, Great Britain and the Netherlands.  While spending the morning traveling the globe, students participated in many hands on activities reflective of each country's customs.

This annual event is based on the Great Dickens Christmas Fair in San Francisco a journey back to old Londontown where characters come to life.  Parker School's first grade teacher, Christian Ingalls, recreated her own childhood memories of her experiences in San Francisco and brought it Parker School 4 years ago in the form of Winter World Traditions.

More than a celebration this learning experience gives students the opportunity to explore other countries and cultures.  Each child learns to say Merry Christmas in the native language of the featured countries.  They learn what the country flag looks like as they study how children around the world celebrate winter.  For more information about Parker School visit www.parkerschool.net.
